Submissions

In July 2024 I ran a small game jam in a private discord server.....
Five others and I submitted six legendary games made in about a month long period. For all of us except one, it was our first time making a game in any version of RPG Maker. I knew I had to run this jam when I saw the easy to use and delightfully 2000s interface of this engine. Games made in this software all run at a charming 640x480 resolution that looks excellent in fullscreen on a CRT monitor. Most of us have all played various RPG Maker hits that became popular for their unique aesthetics (Yume Nikki, OFF, etc.) and drew some inspiration from them. However, some submissions here do not adhere to these traditions and instead draw from completely different things. One submission in particular was made by someone who had never played an RPG Maker game before.
Even though some games are pretty unfinished due to the nature of a game jam, the variety of the submissions is impressive. In my humble opinion.

The rules were fairly simple:
1. You had to use RPG Maker XP
2. You couldn't use projects from the internet as a base or otherwise
3. You could steal graphics / visual assets from wherever you liked
4. You could steal music / audio assets from wherever you liked
5. Each entrant had a Theme they could use in their game if they wanted to, but you were allowed to ignore it.
6. The due date was 36 days after the start.
7. You could team up with other people in the server if you liked.

By the way none of us are like game devs or whatever. It's just a fun challenge to see if we could make anything.
After the Jam finished and we all played each others games, I made this page to have public downloads and add context.
