Umineko is one of my favorites for sure, but I think The Hundred Line Last Defense Academy is my favorite
Lunacy no longer lurks within this world, for it dwells in broad daylight. The weeds of madness and disharmony have wrung themselves so tightly around our roots that it’d take a millennium of deforestation to regain our lost sense.
umineko is good but there's a little known one by the same dude called "when the cicadas cry" AKA "higurashi no naku koro ni" that's even more awesome i think
The art of sweet fuse reminds me of SMT Devil Survivor

I agree with everyone saying umineko and higurashi are great! I don't know which one I like more! has anyone watched higurashi gou and sotsu? very interesting midquel!
I also love yanderella!! it kind of traumatized me XD
A lonely, quiet person has observations and experiences that are at once both more indistinct and more penetrating than those of one more gregarious; his thoughts are weightier, stranger, and never without a tinge of sadness. (...) Loneliness fosters that which is original, daringly and bewilderingly beautiful, poetic. But loneliness also fosters that which is perverse, incongruous, absurd, forbidden.

I liked Yanderella a lot, it’s one of the cornerstones of my taste in stories.

Wow guys umineko when they cry is so cool and awesome and number one, but what too brings joy and nourishment to the soul is the Infinity Series. I exist here to tell everyone to hop on
im very basic af the only VN i've read is katawa shoujo, i would say i enjoyed it but i was like 13 at the time. I got majikoi on sale so I'll read that at some point.
Each entry doubles up the mystery/sci-fi, so Ever17 has even more fun character writing with wilder twists and turns. While Remember11 is my personal favorite, Ever17 has the most insane true route/ending I've read, using the hours of SoL you've gone through to blow your mind. Remember11 never really chills out and adds more and more mysteries, giving it a different pacing & appeal from the rest of the series. Also, Sara is a sweetie pie

The Infinity series is quite nostalgic. I still get a wistful feeling when i listen to the Remember11 soundtrack
once upon a time i read the infinity series mostly through accident.... i wanted to read remember11 and then people told me i had to get through the first two or i would Not Get It,,, i dropped never7 fairly early on and the other one i ended up despising because it felt like homework. i didnt even like remember11 that much in the end.
there's a lesson to be learned here, im sure :<
Sadness is a dagger…
that's been sharpened to strike at your heart.
Takeshi Abo hits on all of his soundtracks, and Remember11's atmospheric soundtrack is my favorite of his. Steins;Gate 0 gets a close second. Also Utena pfp!! So cool!
I'm a twt lurker (@maskofdeception) that randomly encountered this on my tl and saw WTC fans lol, I may disappear at any moment :P
I read Ever17 first because Never7's crumbs of sci-fi weren't enough for me, but Ever17's ending sold me on the series and had me start from the beginning. You have to like the SoL for the sci-fi to hit right in those games, so it is what it is!

now that you mention it utena does have a visual novel, doesn't it? I've been meaning to play it one day since I love the anime! has anyone played it?
i have not played it, but have you seen how positively epic this opening is?
omg it already won me over in the first 5 seconds with spinning chuchu and akio's sega!! and it just get better from there!! what is even happening to akio in the end? is he... turning into a car too? XD

Full of so much kino, and further proof I need to hop on Hundred Line when I get the chance. I don't have a vndb set up but I have to eventually bite the bullet and run through everything I've read (it's a lot)
My faves from memory
- When They Cry
- Utawarerumono
- Muramasa & a lot of the Nitro+ and some Chiral catalogue
- Science Adventure
- Infinity Series
- Shinza Bansho
- Nasuverse
- Liarsoft Steampunk Series
I'm reading I/O revision II in English and Senshinkan Hachimyoujin in Japanese currently
Damn senshinkan? That's how I know you're a real one, I'd love to read that someday but I'm not great at JP so I don't want to tackle something that hard, and it's hard for me to fit in JP stuff while I have work. You've got some good taste though, I wanna peep the Liarsoft stuff someday, I haven't read any of it.

They're so good! Inganock is my personal favorite among those I've read, Ooishi Ryuuko art does so much for the atmosphere.
Senshinkan is such a difficulty jump... my previous JP reading was 9-nine which was simple and cozy. I wanted Hundred Line to be my next JP studying material, considering it's so comically long that I'd probably be a seamless reader by the end of it, but I've come to accept that I don't have that much patience! I have long had my eyes on it because a Kodaka/Uchikoshi crossover can only be wild, AND Utawarerumono & Disgaea made me fall in love with SRPGs, it will probably suck up my life once I take the dive lol
