If you played Parlor Mall and liked it, I'd like to know what could make Parlor Mall 2 even better! New engine? Same engine?

I have the setting for Parlor Mall 2 all figured out, but I'm curious if you guys think some of the action should be changed or modified. I liked working in RPG Maker VX Ace, so I'll have NO ISSUE sticking with the program. However, if the idea of "wow, more spells, and javascript!" is tittillating to you, then I'll probably have to move onto RPG Maker MV...

Now that I'm writing it out loud...I'd really rather stick with VX ACE LOL. 8-):PMV / MZ does not feel good to me. VX Ace is quite snappy and responsive, and that's the best part of an action game. OK, well, anyway. Seems like I figured that out on my own, but still. If there's anything you're interested in saying about what could potentially be in the sequel (" I want more boobs!" "I wanna see more devil." "I wanna see a hunk!") then have at it...

OR you could just talk about Parlor Mall or ask anything about it! That's it. Thanks for making this forum Foopy.

I have no suggestions but I am looking forward to seeing more of your work!

I have to re download your deadlock mod now that it's back and updated!

hi Cam!! I have many opinions on every topic you brought up. Since you're curious about the action, I would like to see you lean into it. I would love to see you go deep enough into action mechanics that it pushes your boundaries. Parlor Mall felt safe, which totally makes sense as a Jam game. Instead of a choice of two different attacking styles, I would personally like to see a system where the player has access to all of your combat mechanics at once, instead of choosing once at the start of the game. And I'd like to see you design the levels around that too.
When deciding what engine to use, it's fun to imagine the possibilities a different engine might bring to the table. However, I am a big believer that the artist can create the best work with the tools they are most familiar and comfortable with. I would say, stick with VX Ace!
As for what I want to see in the sequel... other than deeper action like I mentioned, I would actually like to see longer dialogue scenes! I liked the character writing of the original Parlor Mall and wished there was even more! The freqency of how often dialogue appeared was perfect, I think I just wanted the scenes to last longer. Especially in the second half of the game.
Thanks for posting on here, feel free to ignore my opinions if they dont align at all with your vision. lol.

p.s. i also downloaded the aseprite file and it's a very stylish logo. 8-)

There are so many reasons that CRTs are superior  it's not even funny.

- Instant response time for gaming
- Flickering from beam scanning hypnotizes you
- Coil whine puts you in a trance like state
- Low res content looks amazing

The biggest thing is that last one. Old stuff is way better than new stuff right now and the old stuff just looks better on a laser beam hitting phosphors. It's scientifically proven

this is the thread to post about all media that reminds you of the legendary japanese history video game heiankyo alien.
recently I finished the book "earthlings" by sayaka murata, I thought it was gonna be a comfy and whimsical little novel but it gets really fucked up!! just like heiankyo alien, which looks cute but is actually a constant battle for survival full of grotesque imagery, a very mature game. and the important part is that they keep talking about ALIENS... in JAPAN... without spoiling much let's just say... it feels kinda like a dystopian world in which the heiankyo aliens actually won... heh. so I recommend it!

what about you guys? anything that reminds you of this wonderful game?

I think that The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time might be in contention for the best game of all time! I think I prefer the N64 original to the 3DS remake (the vibes!!), I think it's an all time classic, and one of my favorites to replay over and over again.

Also ganondorf is bad freakin ass

What do you think about OOT?

No disrespect to ocarina of time but I can think of a lot of games that are better.... I declare it's not a potential best game of all time. Here are a few games that I think make more sense for this lofty title :

Grand theft auto 6
Stalker shadow of chernobyl
Half life 3 once it comes out
Pokémon mystery dungeon blue rescue team
